[00:00:00] Speaker A: Sam.
[00:00:40] Speaker B: Hello and welcome to Master your mind, discover the leader in you. Thank you for saying yes to being here.
This is not just any event or conversation. This is a share space for growth, for truth, and for real leadership.
Real leadership.
Not the kind that is defined by titles or followers, but leadership that starts within.
And this is about discovering the leader in you.
We're here to walk you through the same process we've lived where we became aware of what was holding us back. We reconnected to a deeper vision, and we chose to take bold action.
You're not here by accident. Something inside of you knows that it's time to rise. And today we're here to walk that journey together with honesty, with courage, and with love.
This is not a solo journey. I couldn't do this by myself.
And I am honored to be joined with two powerful leaders who have walked their courageous paths and continue to lead from within.
I love to start by giving them space to introduce themselves to you.
Gigi, would you share who you are and what this works matter to you?
[00:02:00] Speaker C: Hello. Hello. Welcome to our talk today. This is Gigi. I am a nurse by profession, but I would say I am a mom entrepreneur. And I have been interested into leadership because right now I have my kids who are going through their youth, and I would like for them to be doing the things that if I learn about leadership, they would have been. I would have been doing something different. And they can start early with that, with that knowledge of having that confidence to lead.
[00:02:38] Speaker B: Yes. So true. We have a powerful intention.
And my other fellow leader is Sue. Would you share who you are and what this work matters to you?
[00:02:49] Speaker A: Yes. Thank you, Valerie. So I am Sue. I'm actually a retired grandma who figured out and was able to step into my leadership very late in life.
And my intention of everything I do is to leave a legacy. I have nine grandchildren, four kids, and it's just my passion to be able to bring to them the understanding and that they are.
They matter.
And who they are matters, and their voice matters.
And my legacy to them is for them to understand how to discover the leader in them so that we create a world of leaders and not followers.
So I'm here today to say, hey, get started way earlier than me. It's never too late. Right.
But that's why I'm so excited to be here today.
[00:03:56] Speaker B: Yes. And we're excited to have you both, and we have so much to share with you about the journey that we encounter. And I want to introduce myself, too. I am Valerie. I'm a Transformational health and leadership and empowerment. Coach and mentor and a fierce believer in healing into wholeness.
I spent years helping others reclaim their voice and their power because I had to do it for myself first.
And I have faced silence, self doubt and struggle constant.
And I turned those chapters into wisdom, into vision, and into a mission.
And that's what this is about. It's not about perfection, but presence, but showing up in your purpose and develop that power from the inside out.
So let us begin, I want to say, like this journey, what we are about to present to you is grounded in the teachings of actually a book. And we're going to take you to the process of what led like the journey that led to completing leadership for teens. Discover the leader in you.
And based on that, we're going to. We're going to start in the foundation of all leadership, which is awareness.
Before we can lead anyone else, we must first need to learn how to lead ourselves. And that begins with awareness. And I would love to open up the floor. Gigi sue, let's talk about awareness. What is it and what is it not?
[00:05:41] Speaker C: That is very important step into getting into where we want to go. Val I believe being aware is the first thing that we need to realize that there is really something missing.
Our topic for this discussion, master your mind. Discover the leader in you is basically when you know that there is something missing, getting something different. Starting to do something different would start when you feel uncomfortable where you are, when you feel like you have arrived, or when you feel like this is enough. Right now I am okay.
It's very difficult to get out from that comfort zone. But when you know that you need something and you are aware that there is something missing of, of the life you have right now, you become curious.
You will do research, you will reach out to people who are actually doing the things you believe you can do as well, but you are not doing it yet. So to know what you know and know what you do not know, that is knowledge. Having that knowledge is not enough, though. You know that when you have that knowledge and you don't do anything about it, we can talk here for hours and not really arrive at anywhere.
I just feel like in my, in my growing years, I was aware that I could do something.
I was a, I lead a band in, in my high school years, from first year to fourth year. And yet I was. Our attire was like, you see those band leaders with short skirts. I was never comfortable doing that, especially being in front of people, see things that I can do. But my confidence was not there. I was aware I can do it, but I was also aware that I did not have that confidence to be that person I know I am.
I have let go of a lot of opportunities because of that. And if had I known about that awareness that I can actually.
There's nothing. There is no, no tool. Nothing is missing in my life. It's just basically me, just me being in the way of, of the things that I want to be and what I would have done. And Val, I know that this awareness would lead to something bigger. When you have a vision, would you be able to get that vision out there for us?
[00:08:26] Speaker B: Yes. I love. I don't know. Do you have anything to share about awareness?
[00:08:31] Speaker A: Well, awareness for me is digging deep inside, like Gigi just spoke about, but understanding those things that hold you back, those limiting beliefs.
For me as a kid, I was bullied.
I've got curly hair. I don't know where all the other people in the world were, but nobody had curly hair and everybody made fun of.
And I just grew up, honestly, almost my entire life till I stepped into my leadership recently, digging deep down to understanding. You know, I'm not good enough.
That's what I learned. And so that limiting belief is an awareness for me. Now when that starts popping up, I'm thinking, oh, no thanks, that used to protect me, but that's not working anymore. So I move beyond it and step into my leadership. So awareness is key to leader. Yep.
[00:09:32] Speaker B: Yes. And I, I love, I love both your inputs because really everything starts with awareness because that's bringing to the consciousness. Right. It's like taking.
Looking through new eyes and just make a decision. It's about noticing what's really going on. And it's, it's an inside job.
Your thoughts, your patterns, your emotions, your reactions.
It's not about judgment, it's. It's about choice.
Choosing to bring consciousness to everything, even the uncomfortable, even like the things like Gigi talked about and suit, you know, you're being bullied, like I was being bullied too. And it's just, we go through the discomfort like we talked about, the being out of the comfort zone. It's uncomfortable, but it's a necessary journey to be able to see it for what it is and be able move past it really, because you can see your patterns clearly. Like when I was able to notice the destructive patterns that I was in, then I began to shift them. And that is the power that we all have. And that's where the mastery in the mind begins. When you recognize that the Power is in you. The power of choice to be able to see all those things and be able to let go of all these things that don't serve you.
[00:10:56] Speaker A: So, yeah, love that.
[00:10:59] Speaker B: So, yeah. So as you hear these things, begin to think, like, you know, as we share these moments from our own journeys, like, begin to think what reflections? What. What is this activating within you what has been running the show in your life up until now? Remember, awareness is a gift. It's key.
So now that we've started to connect with what's shaping our current reality, like Gigi said, it moves us into a bigger state, which is what we're here to create.
And that vision, Vision is the bridge between where you've been, where you are, and who you are becoming.
It's beyond a goal.
It's almost like a feeling. It is a feeling because you're engaging your ways of being.
It's like having an internal gps, a direction, a deeper knowing in your heart and your soul.
That starts by answering the question, like, what does a leader in me be that others can't yet?
Like, who do I get to become in order to have what I really, really want?
Isn't that crazy? We went through this process, like, asking, like, what do you want? What do you want? And most of us go blindly saying, I don't know what I want. And that is the beginning. So having awareness first, and now we have clear the space to really start having a vision.
And this is.
This is a. It becomes like a guide that takes you beyond anything, any circumstance that is happening around you.
When you have a vision, you're being led by it. And no matter what, you deal with what comes in them, in the way that wants to disrupt or derail you from reaching that vision. So the vision is where it starts, and it's also where it ends. And it's an ongoing process.
And I know that we can share so much about the vision and what kept us standing into the vision of giving birth to this book. Right, ladies, let's talk about that.
[00:13:33] Speaker C: We have to apply it into action, Val.
[00:13:38] Speaker B: Yes, but the vision, we stayed in the vision. We're like, no matter what gets in the way, we're giving birth to this book. We're, you know, no matter what gets in the way, we're giving birth to this book.
[00:13:51] Speaker C: So, yes, I feel vision is very significant.
It to. Because I come across this saying that many people are going fast but nowhere.
But it's like you feel like motion is progress, but not necessarily. We could be running so fast in a Treadmill and we don't go anywhere.
So having that vision where you want to be. Thank you, Val, for elaborating on that, because I feel that has been missing, especially when we are in our youth. In my youth time, I was. I didn't have much responsibility.
My priority were not really having, you know, thinking about that future, the time when I am no longer getting allowance, when I have to pay for my own bills. Those were not.
Those were not important at that time. So it is important also to understand, is say, make sure that your present happiness does not jeopardize your future when we make decision in our younger years. In. In my youth, I wouldn't. I won't say I was really rebellious, you know, but there were times when I was given some things to do and my heart was not really in there.
I did not have the vision that my parents had envisioned for me.
And I feel having somebody who can actually guide you, mentor you, prompt you to do things, even when they are not comfortable for you to just take action and go for it, you know, whatever the price is in. In the youth time, that is not very. That is not very relevant. I know. Not everyone I know. I just feel like when I was in my younger, I was in fourth grade, I had this first experience of taking care of my cousin, who was just one year old at that time. It was my first experience of babysitting.
[00:16:11] Speaker B: And.
[00:16:11] Speaker C: And since he was in a different country, I really did not get in touch with him as often.
I just realized when I was in US and he was in Australia, that he actually committed suicide when he was in his youth. And I felt like, what could I have done?
What could I have done to prevent that?
I did not have the vision to connect with him constantly and find out how he was doing. And the sad part of it is a few years after that, maybe four or five years after his younger brother also committed suicide.
So there are people, there are youth who are hurting and we know we have the tool to help. We already had that.
We had the wisdom. We learned from our mistakes and we. I could have. I could have connected with him and just listen to him and hear what was in his heart.
But that at that time, to me it's like not. Not very.
There was no vision of this reality that people are hurting. And I felt I could have done better. I could have taken action.
But it's not too late. We can create the life we want and we can still impact other people, youth who really need the message.
[00:17:40] Speaker A: So yes, what I'm Hearing, you know, is a great segue into what I would love to talk about. Action is so super important.
You know, life is now and the stepping into committed action. So, you know, we. We became aware of limiting beliefs and emotional patterns that could have held us back. And then we created our vision. For me, I never had a vision until recently. Like, I just went through life.
I. I lived it. I just let it happen.
I just. It just. I just let it happen. I did not have a vision.
So as I've gotten older, understanding, my vision of helping youth and anybody, as you mentioned, Gigi, is that we're connecting in our vision to our deeper self, to our deeper values. And what's so exciting is connecting with our future self.
[00:18:48] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:18:49] Speaker A: Okay, so there it is. It's out there now. How do you get there?
So sometimes that seems, like, so overwhelming. I'm going to break this down. Action is steps. Honestly, act. So a vision is so cool. It's like your imagination. You're in that state of imagining and just saying, all right, this is it. I have my vision, but oh, my goodness, what do I do to get there? Right? So it can, you know, what, Translating into actionable steps so you can do something like, okay, so my vision is I want to be an impactful, confident leader.
What's a little step? Take a little step into that. To that big vision is speaking up in meetings, like I'm doing right now. It's not my comfort zone, y' all, but here I am.
So, you know, taking those little steps works, and then you can get resistance.
Val kind of talked about that already. Those obstacles that get in the way. You know, for me, my resistance to my vision has been self doubt, judgment, it's not the right time. Perfectionism, all those things, all that stuff gets in your way that goes back to awareness.
Kick those out and committed action. All right. Committed action is so much different than, yeah, do that tomorrow. You know, I'm not really quite ready yet.
So stepping into that committed action is where you get from vision, like Val said, from the creation to the end.
So things are different for me now.
I in retirement, and my vision has always been a water person, is to live on the water.
So I got an opportunity this past winter to step into my vision to live in St. Augustine during the winter next year.
Me before.
Yeah, that'd be awesome. And never do a darn thing about it, Right? In less than 12 hours, I had my name on the list and took lots of steps, committed action, to actually secure an oceanfront condo in St. Augustine. My vision, life is now. I took those steps. You know, it was just very easy to think in smaller steps. That was an easy vision to create, but there could have been a lot of. A lot of resistance.
So action is what it's all about, you guys. It really is. It's all, you know, don't wait.
Don't wait.
[00:21:51] Speaker B: Yes.
So good. Yes. You are the living example, and. And we are each living examples of goods. We held each other high through this process, through this journey. It wasn't easy. It was uncomfortable, but it was the willingness. Right? Because a powerful awareness and a beautiful vision are really not enough without the one thing which is taking action. And in leadership, it's not just about dreaming and leaving the dream, and just like, you know, it's about skin in the game, and it's about not just doing, but being in the action.
[00:22:33] Speaker A: So.
[00:22:34] Speaker B: And that's what moves us forward. And like you said, sue, you know, action doesn't have to be huge. It's just. It's one little step at a time. One win and count the wins. And it really. It just needs to be aligned with our vision, with who we are at our essence. And this is an invitation for you to really discover, like, what do you get to be aware of? Where. What is your vision and then what action steps are going to lead you in the direction aligned with that vision of who you get to be. And it starts with a decision, right? I'm not waiting anymore. Life is now. The time is now. So, my goodness, we can share so many moments where we had to take that leap and then another go, and then again, even when it felt scary or. Or it was messy, and that's. That's it. We, you know, sometimes we aim to do things perfectly. Like, I am a guilty of that, and I'm a recovery perfectionist, and I get to continue to break that.
And it's important to identify, like, what is the little next thing and the clear step that I can take towards the vision and the goal.
[00:23:57] Speaker C: So beautiful.
So beautiful.
[00:23:59] Speaker A: Bob, you know what I love is that when we were working towards our vision of creating our book, Leadership for Teens, discover the leader in you.
Obstacles were opportunities.
So it's that awareness. Shift your mind, reframe it, that could have stopped us dead in our tracks. But no, it was an opportunity. Okay, what do we get to create? How do we get to shift? Where do. Who do we get to be to get to our vision?
[00:24:35] Speaker C: It's when we meet resistance that things get difficult.
And I just believe that resistance really is just that purification, it's the process where you don't. When you feel like there is a block in front of you, be like water. I think it was Bruce Lee who said, just be like water. Go around it, under it, over it, whatever it takes.
Because you know that vision.
You have a vision that is needed, that is needed, that would make a difference, that would create value to others.
And having our book, being, being created by 23 other authors, other master leaders from the different parts of the world, did not get through that easy.
[00:25:30] Speaker B: No.
[00:25:34] Speaker C: The experience was really not just building my leadership, but really building my character.
How, how you. You will know who you really are, what you are made of when you, when you are faced with resistance, when.
[00:25:50] Speaker A: You are faced with difficulties, when you persist.
[00:25:55] Speaker B: Exactly. And what you resist persists.
So every time we're. We're found with that block, that obstacle, that every. Anytime that you make a decision, you're going to find resistance. So it's just a matter of being aware of that and then being willing to be led by your vision and take further action aligned with your vision, so it doesn't have to be comfortable. But that is leadership. That is leadership. And so I know we been here talking to you, but what you have done today by being here, by showing up is powerful.
You took the time to start exploring your mind, being curious about what is it that you want so you can reconnect with your vision. Because your vision is given to you and it's your vision and nobody else has to agree with it or understand it because it's given to you in your heart, in your soul, in your mind. So stay curious and stay digging in into what is your vision, no matter how big it is. And then choose a new direction. That is the essence of leadership.
And like our book that we put together wasn't an easy process. And our book really is the journey that we went through.
Leadership for teens Discover the leader. The leader in you is not just for teens. Because we all were child and we all can find that inner child, same as we can find our rebel team inside. And imagine if you can go back in life and give your. That. That person, that state of you with undeveloped character, full of doubts, insecurities.
Imagine you can give it a manual, a guide. This book particular is filled with stories, ways of being and tools that have helped us.
[00:27:58] Speaker C: And.
[00:27:59] Speaker B: And we're here to support you. We're bringing the book to live here to you and everything that we have.
[00:28:06] Speaker C: And exercises as well.
[00:28:08] Speaker B: Oh yes, it's. Yeah. Everything that we've shared Today comes straight from our experience and from the workbook that we invite you to go through. Because it is a self discovery process to discover that you indeed are a leader, are born to be a leader and how to mast mind in order to become the leader you were born to be.
And so as, as we are closing in here, this doesn't have to end here.
If today sparks something in you, we invite you to join us as we go even deeper into this three pillars of awareness, vision and action. Not just any action, aligned action.
And in our book, Leadership for Teens, Discover the leader in you. Like I said, it's not just a workbook. It's a guide to walk with you as you continue this path. And we're also going to be offering upcoming events and other little sessions and the support spaces to help you stay in momentum so you don't have to figure it out alone. We've been through the path and we would love to, to bridge the gap, to take you into the journey into leadership.
[00:29:28] Speaker C: So for, for introducing this tool to our listeners and to our viewers. And sue, would you have anything to say about the authors of this book, Committed Visionaries?
[00:29:41] Speaker A: Yes, Committed Visionaries.
I think we've pretty well kind of nailed it with obstacles. There's 23 of us. We all came together. It was really actually amazing how we all came together, laid out a plan, took, took our committed actions, right? We had a plan, we had the steps and we put deadlines and we met them and we pushed through, pushed through, pushed through.
And it was all because we had a vision and we are committed to it.
[00:30:21] Speaker C: We are committed to creating a world.
[00:30:24] Speaker A: Of love, love, courage, courage, authenticity and freedom.
[00:30:35] Speaker B: Yes.
So this is leader, leader, leader, leader.
Take this moment to honor yourself. You say yes to this, to being here, and to start this journey, wherever in the journey you are. And remember, your mind is powerful, your vision is so valid. You matter and your actions matter.
The leader in you is ready for you to say yes.
[00:31:06] Speaker C: Ladies, thank you.
Thank you so much for this opportunity to be here with you.
[00:31:12] Speaker A: Thank you everybody. Thank you.
[00:31:15] Speaker B: Thank you, Gigi. Thank you, Sue.
[00:31:18] Speaker C: Until, until next topic, we have more to explore.
[00:31:24] Speaker B: Join us as we dig deeper into these three pillars because there's so much more into this and we will include exercises from our workbook so you get to experience in real life what is possible when you make a decision.
Remember, you have a choice. You matter and the power is in you.
[00:31:44] Speaker A: Yes.
Beautiful.
